Lazy Day

Today was a lazy day. Nothing spectacular going on here. Spent the day washing clothes, searching for our passports (found them Yay!), watching the Lakers win (thank goodness) and organizing my son's game system. Later in the evening, we went to dinner with my mom and brother then grocery shopping. The excitement is never ending in my neck of the woods.

Pink Shirt - Stitch

I am not feeling a lot of love for the new bangs. My hair has too much body and they do not want to lay flat. I wonder if the bangs were a little thicker if they would lay better? I may have to go in and see what my hairdresser can do. Hmmm.....

The Big Bang Theory

Today, I got brave and went and got bangs. I am not sure if I like them. They don't want to lay straight. I guess I will have to work with them to try and get them to do what I want. The good thing is that they will blend into my hair.

Burn Baby Burn

Today is Friday! Woohoo!!! And it is payday. Double woohoo!!!! I now have $20 which is burning a hole in my pocket. What shall I buy? I really want a houndstooth skirt and I need to replace my favorite skinny(?) jeans. I can't wait to get out there and see what I can find.

The Outfit Du Jour 1/29/2010

Pink Shirt - Old Navy Outlet
Brown and White Floral Shirt - JM Collection (thrifted)
Sweater -??? (thrifted)
Jeans - Riders
Boots - Wal Mart

Today's outfit came together quite by accident. I chose the floral shirt from my closet. I thought it had long sleeves. It wasn't until I put it on that I realized that it tied and had 3/4 sleeves. I loved the way it showed the pink shirt and I thought everything worked well together.

TGIF!!!

It is Friday. Woohoo!!!!!!! This has ben a crazy week with rain and hyper kids. I am glad that the weekend is here. I have plans to go to the Habitat For Humanity Resell store tomorrow so I can get busy on the transformation of my living room. I hope the rain has gone away for awhile.

Another Rainy Day

It is still raining. I love the rain. I wish that I could stay home and wear my p-jams all day instead of going out and facing the elements. But alas, gotta eat so I have to gotta go to work. It was just a wee bit windy and a wee bit cold today which made standing outside for 2 hours with the kids a complete joy. Not!!!

The Outfit Du Jour 1/21/2010

Picture with the shoes I started the day with.
Boots - Maripe (thrifted)

Shoes I ended the day with.
Shoes - DC Outlet

Sweater - Bobbi Brooks
Pink Thermal - Old Navy Outlet
Jeans - Old Navy (thrifted)
Scarf - Gift

The boots in pic #1 are really cute and when I put them on they felt alright. The problem came when I had to stand for over 2 hours plus walking on them. They killed my feet. Before I went to my second job, I went home and changed my shoes. Ahhhh comfort! I also wore a blue raincoat from Old Navy today. I forgot to put it on for the pictures.

Rainy Days and Tuesdays Really Get Me Down

Ok, I really love rainy days. It is the Tuesday and the fact that I had to go back to work. Sigh...
Rainy days are the worst when you work at a school. It is much like the scene in Airplane where they say "assume crash positions". The kids went nuts. I was never so glad to see the parents come and pick them up. Buhbye!!! More rain due tomorrow with more kiddy fun ahead. Yay!!!

The Outfit Du Jour 1/19/2010

Jacket - Riders Copper (thrifted)
Sweater - Talbots (thrifted)
Pink Sequined Tank - Avon
Cropped Linen Pants - Lane Bryant (thrifted)

Please light a candle for my little coat.

M.I.A. (Missing In Arizona)

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. The family and I took an extended weekend and went to the Colorado River to spend a wonderful weekend at Laughlin. Did a little gambling, a little thrifting (no clothes because I am sticking to my word and budget) and a whole lot of relaxing. My outfits were not exciting because I didn't want to pack half of the house to go on a four day trip and I was going to be sitting and pushing a button for a good portion of the day so I just wanted comfort.

The Outfit Du Jour 1/14/2010

Black Turtleneck - Target
Green Shirt - Gap Outlet
Jeans - Levi's (thifted)

I did wear the black boots from Target but I was too tired and lazy to put them back on. We had to make it back home through a crazy rain storm and once they were off , there was no putting them on.

Secret Agent Woman

Apparently, I look like a 1960's spy. This is according to my husband. Although I did have many adventures today such as dodging muddy soccer balls and caring for a bleeding child (great day to wear white haha..), I don't think I was all that mysterious or debonair.

The Outfit Du Jour 1/13/2010

Jacket - Gap Outlet
Dress - Apt 9 (thrifted)
Tank - Avon
Tights - Target
Boots - Target
Necklace - Fashion Bug

I bought this dress on our last trip to Las Vegas. I just love the fit and color of it. The necklace goes perfectly with this dress. It makes me happy!

Lawn Jockeys, Unite!

I think the title says it all. The only accesory that I am missing is a lantern. It dawned on me as I exited my car at work as to my character for today.

The Outfit Du Jour 1/12/2010

Black and White Shirt - Lane Bryant
Gray Sweater - Old Navy Outlet
Jacket - Dress Barn (thrifted)
Jeans - Riders
Boots - Target

There is not too much that is thrifted in this outfit. I will say that most of the items were bought at a highly reduced rate. The most expensive thing I am wearing is my boots which I had to get because they fit my calves.

Today is my sister Diana's birthday. Happy Birthday Sister!

Out With The Old

Today, I packed up 3 bags of clothes that don't fit anymore. : (  This disgusts and saddens me. As I was putting things in the bag, I kept trying to negotiate with myself. "I will lose the weight". "I will use this as motivation". "I know by summer these will fit". I had to tell myself to stop. This doesn't mean that I am going stop trying to get in shape and lose weight. That is a perpetual goal. I am just going to be realistic and know that the clothes aren't going to fit anytime soon and they are taking up room in my closet and life. There are new and better things to be found.

The Outfit Du Jour 1/10/2010

Sweater - Talbot's (thrifted)
Jeans - Gap Outlet
Belt - Fashion Bug (from another outfit)
Scarf - (thrifted)
Shoes - Wal Mart

I am in love with this scarf. I don't think I would ever wear a shirt or dress that is this color (or would I? Hmmm...). I saw it in The Salvation Army yesterday and I knew I had to have it. It cost $2. The sweater was another buy from yesterday. I love the v-neck with the single button. It seems a little short so I have to be careful when I raise my arms. The jeans were a pair that were in the donation pile. I couldn't remember why they were there until I put them on. They gap really bad at the waist. They are made for someone who is straight up and down not an hourglass. That is why I am wearing a belt.

The Weekend Is Here

Today was a busy day. I cleaned a few things around the house and made breakfast and lunch for the boys. After that was all done, I loaded up the car and headed out to the thrift stores. I have spent my $20 for the Month of January. I bought 2 Talbot's sweaters from the Goodwill and a green scarf from the Salvation Army for a total of $11. I really wanted a houndstooth pencil skirt but I couldn't find one. I will keep looking next month.

The Outfit Du Jour 1/9/2010

UNLV Sweatshirt - Champion (thrifted)
Jeans - Bass Outlet
Scarf - Made by me
Boots - Target

I realize that this is the same sweatshirt and scarf from yesterday but it is comfortable and I wanted to wear it again today. And the scarf just goes with the sweatshirt.

Thank God It's Friday!!!!

Woohoo!!!!! It is Friday!!!!! I am so glad that the weekend is here. Hopefully, I can get a few things done that are on my to do list. In addition to the to do list, I still have $11 of my $20 for the month of January. I might make a visit to a few of my favorite thrift stores that I haven't visited in a while.

Outfit Du Jour 1/8/2010

UNLV Sweatshirt - Champion (thrifted)
ecko unltd. hoodie - ????
Black Pants - Venezia (thrifted)
Boots - Target
Scarf - Made by me

It was cold today once again. A good portion of my work day is spent outside. This is why I am wearing a sweatshirt and a fleece lined hoodie. I inheirited this hoodie somehow. It was in my stuff from school and when I took it back to see who it belonged to no one claimed it. Their loss is my gain.

January 7, 2010

A Day Late.....

Ok, I m a day late in posting my outfit du jour. I forgot to take my pic yesterday and when I got home from work, I was tired. So this morning, I put yesterday's clothes back on and had my son take my pic. This is why I look all cranky. I am sleepy.

Outfit Du Jour 1/6/2010

With the coat:

Without the coat:

Coat - ????
Pink Thermal - Old Navy Outlet
Sweater - ??? (thrifted)
Pants - Attention via K-Mart
Scarf - Made by me
Gloves -  A gift for Christmas

Shoes - Target

Pin - 1929 Jewelry??? Bought in the 80's

The details: I was complemented all day on my coat. Everyone kept asking me if it was one of my thrift finds. To be quite honest, I don't know where it came from. It had been in my closet forever and I found it when I cleaned my closet out. All I know is that it is warm. The pin is from the 80's. I used to have a fascination (ok really an obsession) with brooches. Now not so much but they are fun to wear with my scarves.

Sunny California??? Yah Right!

It was another cold day today. I would be ok with the cold if I didn't know that less than a two hour drive away, it was 80 degrees (lucky L.A.). So once again, the outfit is not spectacular. It is so I do not freeze to death in our subzero (ok it was in the 50's) weather.

Outfit Du Jour 1/5/2010

Sweater - Izod (thrifted)
Blue Thermal - Old Navy Outlet
Gray T-Shirt (not seen) - Target
Jeans - Levi Strauss (thrifted)
Boots - Target
Cap and Gloves - Gift from Secret Santa Pal (Nena)
Scarf - Made By Moi

I do not have a hat head. This is due to the fact that I have a Charlie Brown head. It is large and humongous and hats usually don't fit very well. With this being said, I wore this cap because it was cold so my big head be damned.

By the way, I seriously need to work on the posing thing. : )

Baby It's Cold Outside

Today, I had to go back to work. A sad day indeed. And to make it all even worse, it was cold and foggy outside. I know that 51 degrees isn't all that cold (people in Minnesota would be wearing shorts and flip flops) but this California girl was cold. Brrr........

The Outfit Du Jour 1/4/2010

Black Turtleneck - Target
Gray Pants - Dockers (thrifted)
Black Boots - Unknown Brand (thrifted)
Black Jacket - Kenneth Cole Reaction
Scarf - Borrowed from Hubby
Key Necklace (not seen) - Charlotte Russe Outlet

The Details: I know this jacket is a tad small but I was cold and it was warm. The gray pants were a part of my recent thrift store run. They still had the tags on them. Sweet!!!

The Last Day Of Vacation

Today was the last day of vacation. : ( Tomorrow I have to go back to work and all the little kiddies. Whee!!! Tonight, we went to dinner with my mom and little brother to celebrate his birthday. Of course, his birthday was on the 23rd of December but better late than never I say.

The Outfit Du Jour 1/3/2010

Sweater - Denim and Co. (thrifted)
Skirt - H&M (thrifted)
Tights - Liberts
Brown Velvet Boots - Silhouettes (thrifted)

Key Necklace - Charlotte Russe Outlet

Details: The sweater is one that I got yesterday while thrifting. I think I paid 50 cents for it. It is a little big but that is ok. I tried it with a wide belt. My husband, aka Mr. Opinionated, didn't like it. I thought it was ok. I might wear it like that at a later date. This skirt is one of my new favorites. I bought it in Vegas while thrifting and it fits like a dream. I almost didn't buy it because it was $4. I am glad that I had to have $5 worth of stuff to use my ATM  at the Salvation Army or I would have missed out. The boots were another thrift store find in Vegas. I bought them because
A. they are comfy
and
B. they fit my 19" calves.
Two attributes that are hard to find in footwear for me. : )

I'm Still On Vacation

Today's outfit: not that inspiring. I only got dressed because I had no food in the house and I had to go shopping. While I was out, I spent $9 of my $20 for the month. I bought a pair of blue booties (I can't wait to wear these), 2 sweaters, a pair of pants with the tags still on them and a skirt. I can't wait to wear them all.

The Outfit Du Jour 1/2/2010

Happy New Year!!!!!!

I can't believe that 2010 is here! I thought that it would be fun to make a challenge for myself. Usually everyone makes the "I am gonna lose weight" or "I am gotta get in shape" resolution. Been there, done that. This year, I thought that I would give myself a fiscally challenging resolution. What is this resolution, you may ask. Here's the deal, I am not going to buy any new clothing for all of 2010. I am allowing myself $20 a month to purchase thrift. If it isn't in a thrift store, I don't need it.

I know that this is going to be hard. I do love my Target and outlet shopping. But, I am happy to give it the old college try and see if I can make it through a whole year. Along the way, I am gonna document my oufit du jour to prove that I have not made my way to the dark side and broken my resolution.

Without any further adieu.....

The Outfit Du Jour 1/1/2010

Scarf - Made by Me
Turquoise thermal shirt - Old Navy Outlet
Gray Hoodie - Champion
Jeans - Liz Claiborne (thrifted)
Booties - Mossimo

Today's outfit is not spectaclular I know. I am sticking to the premise that I am still on vacation until Monday and you are lucky I am not still in my p-jams. Hahaha!!! Tomorrow, I might make a journey to the RAD Thrift Store. I have $20 and it is already burning a hole in my pocket.
